The project received first prize in the competition for Haile Selassie’s new imperial palace. It is located on top of a hill facing the two major roads of Addis-Ababa.
The Palace complex is built of terraces with various functions placed under each terrace and with “hanging gardens” on top. It is built on top of the palace complex and contains: the throne room, banquet halls, the imperial suite, the emperor’s offices, and a private chapel.
The palace complex contains: The palace offices, services, garages, bodyguard barracks, the palace stables, and museum.
