The Ife University in Nigeria – the main University of the country's Western Region - was planned by Arieh Sharon during the 1960s and 1970s. The Secretariat is located at the main piazza next to the Assembly Hall and Library and constitutes a strong vertical landmark of the whole campus. The building contains a service core for the campus and is connected to the Humanities building with a pergola which ends with a sculptured gate.
