This project is the result of a practical exercise carried out within the framework of the post-graduate course in Integrated Rural Regional Development Planning (IRRD) held at the Settlement Study Centre (SSC) in Rehovot, Israel, under the auspices of the Division of International Cooperation of the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The aim of the course is to train personnel from developing countries, who are professionally engaged in the various disciplines associated with development, in the planning and implementation of Integrated Rural Regional Development projects in underdeveloped areas in their own countries.

The exercise was carried out in 1981 in the districts of Nakuru and Nyandarua, Kenya, with the cooperation of the Physical Planning Department of the Kenyan Ministry of Urban Development and Housing.
